Truck Co. 1
Hook & Ladder Company 1 became Louisville’s first truck company when it was established in October of 1858. Today, it shares quarters with Engine 2 and Rescue 2, at Fire Headquarters, which was built at 1135 West Jefferson Street in 1937. Members of Engine 2 and Truck 1 make up Rescue 2, which is the department’s primary water and tactical rescue company.
Truck 1 has operated nothing but tractor-drawn aerials since motorization. Interestingly, a 1965 Ward LaFrance 70' elevating platform was delivered as Truck 1. However, due to station limitations, it was immediately reassigned to Truck 2 and never saw service as Truck 1.
