Shift Commander

Lexington once operated two Battalion Chiefs for the command of fire incidents, one on the northside and one on the southside. After the consolidation of the county fire department under the Lexington Fire Dept. and the creation of four new "Districts," the second Battalion Chief was eventually discontinued, and the northside Battalion Chief was designated as the "Shift Commander" over all five Districts. Car 200, which is assigned to Station 1, responds to all significant working fires and other emergency incidents.
