Hook & Ladder Co. 3 - Disbanded
Hook & Ladder Company 3 was formed in 1961 at Fire Station 1. It operated as a Quad pumper-ladder company providing Truck Company services for the northside of Lexington outside of the downtown areas. In 1964 it moved to the new Fire Station 8 on North Broadway. During 1974 after merger the department redeployed its Truck Company resources and the company was moved to Fire Station 7. The company number was changed to Hook & Ladder 2 to coincide with its new assignment in District 2, but it was the same apparatus and crews. Shortly after, the company’s truck was rebuilt without a pump and tank, becoming a city-service-ladder truck. The company was disbanded in 1980 and the apparatus was sent off to be converted into a 75 foot aerial ladder truck and was redesignated Aerial Company 5. This company was later itself disbanded in 1989.
