Emergency Care 20

Lexington began providing Fire Department ambulance services in 1969 utilizing converted station wagons. In 1972 they transitioned to vehicles that provided better transport capability and could carry fire and rescue equipment. Today, Lexington operates 12 front line Emergency Care units. Each is a company staffed with a minimum of 3 Firefighter Paramedics or EMTs, including an Officer. The department also cross-staffs 3 "surge units" for times when run volumes have spiked. A fleet of spare units is also available.

Emergency Care 20 went on duty at Fire Station 1 in 2023. It is staffed during high call volume periods.
