Owensboro Station 1
Established in 1866, Owensboro is a career fire department operating from 5 stations, protecting the 4th largest city in Kentucky.
Owensboro Fire Station No. 1 serves as the department's Headquarters and is located at the intersection of Locust and 9th streets. Upon the opening of the new downtown station in 1973, Fire Station 2 was closed and Engine Co. 2 was moved into the new station. When Engine 2 moved into a new Fire Station 2 in 1999, a second Engine Company was activated at Station 1, which housed two engine companies until 2007.
Today, Station No. 1 is home to Engine Co. 1, Ladder Co. 1, Rescue Co. 1, and the Battalion Chief as well as several support and reserve vehicles.
