Engine Co. 5
Engine 5 began service in 1859. In 1965, it relocated to a new station at 235 East Jefferson Street, where it resides today, along with Tower 2. Engine 5 operated as a two-piece company from 1936 to 1990, first with a wagon and then a Squrt. It also served as a Hazmat company for many years. Averaging close to 4,000 runs per year, Engine 5 is routinely Louisville’s busiest engine company.
